I'm Jeremy Varela. We show up, and we explain the work.

J & J's is my family's fireplace and HVAC company in Santa Barbara. I started it in 2021. We do both trades, so your fireplace and your heating and cooling get planned together, by the same people.

  2. We come take a look

    Installation estimates are free, and repairs start with a diagnostic. Either way, you get a written, flat rate price before any work starts.

  3. We do the work and test it

    Drop cloths down, gas and carbon monoxide tested with you there, and the house left clean.

Why I started J & J's

I wanted to build something that lasts.

I started in HVAC in 2016. Early on I knew I wanted my own company, and having my first child turned that goal into a plan. I opened J & J's in 2021.

I wanted to provide for my family and build a company known for quality workmanship, practical solutions and treating customers right. Since then we've worked hard to earn that reputation, one job at a time.

What we won't do

  • Replace equipment you don't need to replace.
  • Cut corners on an install.
  • Sell you a product you don't need.

We find the real problem and recommend the most practical long term fix. Safety, performance and the quality of the work come first.

    We install and service fireplaces, heating and air for homes and for commercial buildings. Call and tell us about the space.

  • After-hours service

    We offer after-hours appointments when a technician is available. Call (805) 699-1112 and we'll tell you the soonest we can come. After-hours diagnostics start at $308. If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, leave the building and call 911 first.

  • Warranties

    Manufacturer warranties depend on the equipment and brand. Many qualifying systems include up to 10 years of parts coverage, subject to registration and the manufacturer's terms. Our workmanship warranty is one year on qualifying installations, and we help with manufacturer warranty claims on equipment we installed.

  • Santa Barbara County and the Central Coast

    Our home base is Santa Barbara and most jobs are in the six towns we list. We also take some jobs elsewhere on the Central Coast, so call and ask.

What to expect from first call to last day.

  • You call or text.

    Tell us what's going on. If it's urgent, we say honestly how soon we can be there.

  • We walk through the house.

    Free. We look at the space, the gas, the vent route, the ducts and the panel, and answer questions.

  • You get one written number.

    A flat rate proposal with every line on it, the permit named and the warranty terms written down.

  • We do the work.

    On time, drop cloths down, and a clear word about each day's work.

  • We test it with you there.

    Gas leak and carbon monoxide tests, then a walkthrough of how it works and what to look after.

  • We stay your contractor.

    Warranty terms in writing, reminders in your calendar, and help with any warranty claim on equipment we installed.
